My 10 favourite maternity photoshoot poses
You are here: Home ยป My 10 favourite maternity photoshoot poses
I can’t stress enough the importance of having memories of your pregnancy, because it is an event that happens only a few times in life (sometimes just once!), and you cannot miss this chance. That being said, today I want to talk about maternity photoshoot poses, because they make the difference between a good pregnancy photoshoot and a great one.
Based on my experience, every woman is different and so are poses that give value to their appearance, but there are some poses that always work and I always encourage, because they look good for nearly everyone. Here is my top 10.
1. Thinking about him/her
This pose is relaxing for the mother because of her position. So relaxing that if she closes her eyes and thinks about the baby in her bump a smile appears on her face: that is the moment I want to capture. We can try different dresses and light settings, but you always get a great photo.
2. Focus on the bump
Perfect round shape, with lights straight onto it, giving it an astonishing moon effect, with the superstar of the show as main subject. This pose is very powerful in its simplicity, because it puts into contrast a complicated thing like a new life and something very simple, like a geometric shape.
3. Mom and daddy
Dads are part of this and deserve to be in the photos. A photo with your partner will remind you (and him, too) that he has always been by your side to support you and the baby. When you look at this photo, you will feel his warm touch on your bump. He is there to take care of you and the baby.
4. Kiss the bump, dad!
This is one of the sweetest maternity photoshoot poses. In a single shot you can see the bond that unites the couple, the happiness of the parents, and the warmth of the family they are creating. Terrific!
5. With sibling
The family is growing, but there is enough space in your heart for all the little ones, so here you are: you and your baby, heart to heart, both looking at the next family member.
6. With the whole family
Not just your kids, but all of you can take part to the pregnancy photoshoot and turn it into a family experience. All of you, united for the very first time, creating a memory that will last for decades. Is there anything more beautiful than that?
7. Walking together
You are becoming a mother! Now your steps will be the steps of your child, at least until they grow up and take their own path (and trust me, you can’t imagine how fast that happens!). But for now, pose with their shoes to symbolise that you are now walking together.
8. Artistic nudes
Be proud of what you are: you are the main actress of the miracle of life. Do not be afraid of showing your body, because you are beautiful! You are a mother! Be proud of yourself and of what your body is capable of.
9. Change of perspective
Speaking of artistic nudes, there are a lot of possible poses, including intriguing perspective changes, like this upside down photo that keeps the baby bump in the middle, but gives that touch of uniqueness that makes this photo a great shot.
10. How big is your bump?
When a woman is pregnant her body changes, and she can feel it. Her belly is just the most visible change. A change you definitely want to document. In this photo I used a measuring tape, but there are a lot of items you can use to get the same effect.
