Portrait session in the old town of Nicosia

Be prepared, this will be another long blog entry!

Reason for that is that I had the rare opportunity to conduct a portrait session in Nicosia’s old town. I love exploring this part of town; there are always narrow streets and beautiful courtyards I haven’t seen before and lots and lots of great spots to take photos!

Clare has lived with her husband and their two sons, Dominick & Leo, in the old town for some time and has walked along the alleys many times. The boys know their way better than me and you could really feel that this is their ‘home away from home’. Leo and Dominick are two wonderfully spirited boys, very active and curious to explore every corner of the town.

My goal was to capture their lively character, take some stunning single portraits and also catch some tender mother & son moments.

Enjoy browsing the blog entry! You will notice how differently images can be presented. For me a portrait session doesn’t end with handing over the prints to the client; creativity plays a very important role when it comes to suggesting image presentation. I’m a big fan of black&white photography. They are timeless and contemporary, looking great displayed by themselves as well as placed next to a colour image. The old town of Nicosia is a great environment for portraiture.

Thanks Clare for choosing this location; I had a fabulous time photographing you all ๐Ÿ™‚ I could have continued for much longer, as you probably noticed!
